SIHA's local riding groups organise both local activities
and national events to provide riding, learning and social opportunities for
members. The groups, named after historic Icelandic horses Eldur,
Gustur, Sletta and Vindur, each have their own identity and focus,
reflecting that members want different things from their interest in
Icelandic horses. However, all aim to help people increase their
enjoyment and understanding of the Icelandic horse.

Some groups hold regular training events with a trainer from Iceland, while there are also national events with members from all over Scotland. Social activities include rides, seminars, fundraising events or nights out. Details of upcoming events, plus news of recent activities can be found in the events diary. Not owning a horse is not a barrier to being a member of SIHA, as horses are available for hire to members for some events.
